November 29 New Germany Christmas Festival - Lions will have soup, chowder and pies for sale. The Lion Express will be available for kiddie rides.
**Pilot Project - Extended until March 2010!!!** - The New Germany and Area Lions Club are providing FREE baby car seat and stroller sets to all newborns in their catchment area. Expectant mothers living in any of the 30+ communities are eligible. Application may be made through the Public Health in New Germany, OBS clinic at SSRH or by contacting the Baby Car Seat Committee: Lion Bill Alexander 644-2217; Lion Peggy Carver 644-3325; Lion Nancy Veinot 644-3366 We service the area in the New Germany Bus System as well as East Dalhousie.
New Germany and Area Lions Club were the winners of the Lions Foundation of Nova Scotia Award for 2008-2009, presented at the Fall Convention. We also received a banner patch to recognize our cultural and community activities. On hand to accept these awards was PKL Nancy Veinot. Every year the club participates in Canada Day activities - sponsoring the Children's parade, participating in the Street Parade and offering one or more booths on the grounds. In the past year the club assisted with the purchase of mats for the Judo club, purchased banquet and reception tables for the Anglican Church Hall, purchased card tables for both the Simpsons Corner Hall and the Parkdale Maplewood Hall, put siding on the shed for the Seniors as well as shingling the roof.
